Give me Your Number

“Give me Your Number”, he texted me on facebook.

I am certain there is no girl, who have had not been said this.

But what was different this time was that, it was from one of my besties, an all-time scatterbrain.

“Give me Your Number. Will call you when i wake up”, read his message. I logged in at around 1:30 pm to find this text, sent at 9:20 am. Yes, you read the correct timings.

Knowing the way he is, i had not given much thought to his text and have him my number, yet again; and added that he better call at night.

Sayan and i have been together since July, 2001 (though we got acquainted in June, 2001). Yes am a Virgoan and i remember tiny details.
Over the years, we have seen each other grow, fall and pick up ourselves and then move on to greener pastures.
We may not see each other for months, despite staying about 30 mins away from each other (yes, here in Kolkata, when we talk, the distance is always minutes/hours and never in kilometres) yet the connection remains. I know all i need to do is give him a call and vent out my woes and he will listen and listen some more and call me a pagliย and suddenly i’d feel lighter and happier.

So tonight when i logged in and found his status, “visa checked”, without further ado i scrolled over the comments to find more. And Boy, he is going to Texas ๐Ÿ˜€

The joy of seeing him fly was soon over-shadowed by a flood of emotions. Since we are in different professional area, we hardly have time for each other. And somehow i always felt, “ok, next time will meet him and spend time with him, exclusively”, and he too, have always reciprocated the same.

However, our next times are too few.

As a result, despite togetherness of a decade and a half, we not have a single picture of us together.

I remember how we started talking when he got fascinated by my black and white English rapid reader book.
I remember how he fought with that huge guy who bullied me when we were in class-4.
I remember how he teased me when i had had crushes.
I remember how you gave me your shoulder to cry upon when i had my heart broken.
I remember all the times when your “friendly pats” had hurt so bad.
I remember how you admonished me when i thought i had written a bad maths test and was crying all day.
I remember, you nicknaming me “batasha” and then forgetting all about it once you left school.
I remember your squirrel act.
I remember all those silly crushes you’ve had ๐Ÿ˜›
I remember how cute you looked when we had met ๐Ÿ˜‰

With time, we both have changed, perhaps for the better. What hasn’t changed is that i still love you.
I love you with all your weirdness intact and yes, the beard makes you hot ๐Ÿ˜‰
I love pillion riding with you on your bike.

P.S. Finally being on each others’ skype list is going to be some use ๐Ÿ˜€

I love you to the Moon and back.

And, last but not the leastbst friend
and, i promise i shall irritate you from half-way across the world ๐Ÿ˜€

P.S. i want you to do well, so that i can ask for expensive gifts. Yes, am that selfish. By now, you should have had understood that.

P.P.S. i will miss you. i mean it.

am a happy go lucky girl who loves to day dream and often reflects upon the past, be it recent past or remote past. i love being me; sometimes i may not be proud of my actions or words but i am really ok with being ME. Reading and penning down my thoughts are just two of my several hobbies.
